Our International Women’s Day Inspirations!

For International Women’s Day 2019, we asked some of the amazing women in the Bien Venue office to choose a woman who inspires them. From supermodels to World War Two rebels, we got a real range of answers that we’re excited to share with you!

Rosa Parks

Rosa Parks

“My inspiration woman is really easy; it’s Rosa Parks.  She took on the system and formed a movement which started a change in law, a change in mindset and did it with dignity, courage and not for herself but for the greater good.”

Sam Elliott, Director

Katie Piper

Katie Piper

“An inspirational woman for me is Katie Piper, following her horrendous attack, she has shown complete determination to ensure it doesn’t determine who she is. I love the below quote from her:”

“Life is 10% what happens to you and 90% how you react. There are some things we can’t control and some things that do happen to us that we can’t take back, but how we deal with it afterwards is our future… I think anybody can do anything they want if they stay positive and determined.”

Kerry Edwards, Client Director

Meghan, Duchess of Sussex

Meghan Markle

“I have chosen Meghan Markle because I think how she has joined the Royal Family and took on to her new Royal role, taking on so many official appointments also whilst pregnant is admirable. She has contributed a lot to bringing the Royal family in to 21stcentury. She has a genuine, affectionate way about her that she is determined to keep in her public role; it’s really lovely to see. She has experienced a very normal upbringing, the first in the Royal family. This will definitely make her a very popular lady to the people of the UK!”

Karen Hamilton, Venue Consultant

Chrissy Teigen

Chrissy Teigen

“I chose Chrissy Teigen because she’s 100% authentic and unapologetically her. She doesn’t shy away from discussing social taboo topics and shares them on her platform in a humorous way.”

Hayley Young, Account Manager

J.K. Rowling

JK Rowling

“J.K. Rowling wrote Harry Potter while making-ends-meet as a single mother on unemployment benefits; 5 years later she was a multi-millionaire who had inspired a generation to read! She proves that anyone can make it if you keep up the determination and mindset to succeed.”

Zoe Costello, Head of Operations

Winnie Harlow

Winnie Harlow

“My inspirational woman is Winnie Harlow, she is currently one of the most famous super models in America. She inspires me because she has Vitiligo,  which is a skin pigment condition that covers a large percentage of her body, and instead of covering up with makeup or clothes she has embraced and accepted that this is a part of who she is. I think this sends a message that no matter what flaws you may think you have you are still beautiful and that you shouldn’t let anything stop you from fulfilling your dreams.”

Angelica Obeng, Finance Assistant

Irena Sendler

Irena Sendler

“I would have to choose Irena Sendler for her bravery during World War 2. She was a Polish social worker and she was responsible for saving the lives of many Jewish children under Nazi occupation; this was a great risk to herself but she did it anyway. “

Naomi Smith, Sales Ledger Finance Assistant
