“London” – more than just the West End

London has so much to offer for meetings and conferences, it’s hard to know where to start. When choosing an event location it’s tempting to think of central London as being just the West End or Euston areas but there is so much more to the centre of this vibrant city.

Areas such as Victoria, Camden and Kensington are increasingly popular with visitors to London, having their own identities and attractions and being easily accessible via the underground system.

The area of Victoria is home to the train and coach stations of the same name and as such is very accessible by underground, bus, train and coach from across London and beyond. A popular area with tourists, local attractions include its two theatres, Buckingham Palace, the Houses of Parliament, Westminster Abbey and St. James’ Park.  Suggested venues here include the Grange Wellington, which can host 20-125 guests or etc.venues Victoria which can hold from 6 to 250 people.

The bustling residential area of Camden is set around the Regents Canal to the north of Regents Park. Just a short tube ride on the Northern Line to Camden Town station brings you to this lively area, famous for its array of open-air markets, food and drink from around the globe and live music venues. An alternative and very different vibe to the West End. Located near Camden Town station we recommend the Holiday Inn Camden Lock for events up to 350 people or, for something a little unusual the nearby ZSL London Zoo for anything from 10-600 guests.

Kensington, to the south of Hyde Park, is one of London’s wealthiest areas. Reached in less than a 10 minute underground journey from both Victoria and Paddington stations it is the location of the Royal Albert Hall, Kensington Palace and Gardens, as well as the Natural History Museum, Science Museum and Victoria and Albert Museum. Knightsbridge and its shops, including Harrods, are only a 5 minute taxi ride away. In this area we suggest the Crowne Plaza Kensington for up to 150 guests and Bailey’s Hotel.

In our experience it’s always worth considering new areas of the city for different venue options to achieve more competitive rates.
